Private driver - Krakow
We are planning a trip to Krakow later this Spring and are looking for a private driving service to take us for a day trip to Jaslo - does anyone have a company they would recommend?
I've researched the possibility of trains - unfortunately they aren't any that go to Jaslo (or that I could find) and we aren't particularly interested in taking the bus (did that when I was there the last time, bus broke down, but that was in 92' - I am sure buses are much, much better now). As we don't speak Polish it would be great to have someone that is bilingual (Polish/French or Polish/English). From what I can remember and see from Google Earth - this is a trip that can be done in one day (?). ...albeit probably a long day? Many thanks in advance for any recommendations. |
Hi Carotta. Do you just need a driver or do you want a tour guide? Because in Poland they are not the same thing.
A driver will take you where you want to go and then take you back to your hotel. A tour guide will take you where you want to go and will also give you a guided tour of the sites you want to see. Two people we have used and highly recommend. They both speak excellent English. Andrew(Andrzej)Durman who is a very good driver will pick you up at the airport and transport you to your hotel or take you out of town for a trip: [email protected]. Marta Chmielowska will take you in her car and also is an official guide so she can take you into places like Auschwitz and actually go along with you . We used both of these people and were very happy with them. This is the first time I used private guides and I must say it was wonderful and worth every cent. In fact, they were very little more than group guides and you don't have thirty other people with you. Good luck. I loved Krakow. |
Sher,
Many thanks for the advice. Greatly appreciated. |
We can also highly recommend Marta and her husband Chester. He drove us out to Auschwitz where we met the guide they had arranged for us, also to the salt mine where we went with an English tour. We had a half-day around town with Marta which was great in acclimating us to the old town and where things were. She helped us with our telephone and with tickets to concerts. Poland is awesome, have a wonderful trip!!

We also highly recommend Marta Chmielowska ([email protected]). She and her husband Chester provide a personalized travel experience allowing you to make the most of your time for very little extra cost.

it is over 200km from Krakow to Jaslo ... you be paying a lot for taxi / and you don't need a guide for this trip...
Best be to take a train to Tarnow or Rzeszow - which are closer to Jaslo ... Tarnow may be a better option for a taxi/car service - and from Rzeszow you do have a bus connection. BUT if you do not speak Polish ( many 20~30 year old now are fluent in English ) then maybe best to just take a train to Tarnow ( trip is over 1 hour with trains every 1 hour ) http://rozklad-pkp.pl/?q=en/node/143 |
