private car transfer from CDG
 

We will be arriving into CDG airport in early December. We are looking for a reliable private car pick up and drop off from CDG to our Paris hotel. The hotel we are staying in offers transfers for E200 each way and we thought it too pricey. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

The advantage of a taxi is that the taxis are sitting in front of the terminal waiting for you, whereas I keep reading about people standing around waiting for shuttles that never arrive.

I have been using http://www.shuttle-inter.com/ for several years. It is 55 euros for up to 3. It is a private service. They will be outside the security exit door wwith you name on a sig, take your luggage to a nearby vehicle and away you go. No calling, no going to such and such a place, no meter running if traffic becomes slow or blocked.

I arrived in Paris two weeks ago and hey wer right there, eveen though we were early....another friend arrived since and left today along with man, many others recently.

Your choice to make. I know how I do it, with complete satisfaction.

i need to talk to my travel companion (who is unavailable right now) to find out who she hired for our CDG pick-up last month, but I know she said "everyone" uses it. After waiting for an hour and a half and a few calls, a surly guy from the service showed up to "wait" with us outside for another half hour or so. Never said a word in reply to our questions of "where is he? Why wasn't someone inside with a sign, as promised?..." Really uncomfortable. When the driver did show up we ended up crossing the traffic to get to HIM. He offered no reason for his delay. On arrival at our apartment, we negotiated a final fee because we didn't feel they had earned the $55 fee. Had we taken a taxi we would have been unpacking in the apartment before this guy even showed up at the airport!

Bottom line: Cancelled the return and took a taxi back. DH and I have always used a taxi and will continue to do so now. It's great to walk out the door and have one waiting. Clean, reliable and usually around $45-55.

Why not a taxi? You just walk out the door and there they are. It couldn't be easier.

We also like the taxi's in Paris. We copy the name and address of the hotel to show the driver in case our French is a little mangled after the long flight. Most of the cabs we used had GPS systems and were fast and easy to find at the airport exits.

I just received a message from Sue, who left yesterday for home. She had Shuttle Inter reservations for both directions. They arrived promptly for her pickup..the big thing was that the taxi drivers went on strike yesterday and they made a mess delaying traffic all over. She was certainly glad that she had shuttle inter!

Another thing about taxis, which we always took prior to following gracejoan3 suggestion of shuttle inter, get stuck in a trafficjam and the meter keeps ticking. And that is exactly what happened when we used SI. There was a wreck on the highway and we sat for a good 15 minutes.

This secret taxi strike is very interesting because Google News France knows absolutely nothing about it.

TAXI.TAXI.TAXI. Take your hotel address and a little map printed out and hand it to the driver. Maybe 55E for "all" of you in the cab.
Your hotel is ripping you off with that quote. You might watch out for other little taps on your wallet if they will do that!!

I have been trying to find out more about the strike, too. Can't find anything!

I was 'in town' today and I saw taxi's around, so maybe it was just some early morning thing yesterday! Not fun , if you get it it, though, or have a plane to catch and short of time!

Hey GD,

FYI: A "private car" is a limo or a taxi for you and your companions only.
A shuttle might drop off passengers at 2-4 locations.

I've used Shuttle-Inter for two round trips in last 6 months and was very pleased with their service. The last trip into Paris took 1.5 hrs. during rush hour on a Monday morning, and i know a taxi would have been way more than 55 euro.

That's where it gets a bit confusing for some, as the 'shuttle-inter' IS a private service, not a shared service, but does have the word shuttle in its name.
