Private Car from Harwich to Heathrow
We will be returning to port in Harwich on 8/10 and need to take a private car to Heathrow in order to make our flight time. Any suggestions for private car services? How long is this trip and about how much will a car cost?

"<i>How long is this trip</i>" 3 hours on a good day. 2.5 if you are VERY lucky. What time is your flight? If you have less than 6.5 or 7 hours between disembarking at Harwich and your flight you might want to start worrying.
"<i>how much will a car cost?</i>" A small fortune
Does your cruise line not offer transfers to the airport?

You can get a quote for the cost of a private car from justports.com. It is normally cheaper to use the cruise ship transfers for two persons, but you have to allow extra time for boarding the entire bus and then stopping at several terminals at Heathrow.

A couple of years ago we did a Baltic cruise leaving out of Harwich. I'm thinking that I booked through Just Airports, but am not positive. I do recall looking at several companies and they were all comparable in price.
We had a minivan type of car for 4 of us - our flight into LHR was delayed and we didn't depart the airport until around 2:30 p.m. By the time we arrived at Harwich it was around 5:30 - 6 p.m. - lots of traffic and at the time some construction work going on.
The return trip from Harwich was faster, though I planned our flight for the next day so there was no rush. I didn't want to rush from the port to the airport so I gave us an extra day and we spent time in Windsor before flying out.

Unfortunately everything has already been booked and we leave Heathrow around 1:00 p.m. The ship ports at 4:00 a.m. so we can take a car very early. Yes, the ship offers transportation, but we would be cutting it close. It would cost us $200 for both and I thought maybe we could get a private car for just a little more.
