We used Maribel's private service to plan a 2 week trip from Barcelona, thu the Pyrenees, and the Basque country ending at Madrid airport. Our trip would not have been half as good without her assistance. Worth every penny. Our recent trip to Sicily would have been even better with a Sicilian Maribel.

Cathy-- You sound so naive. I corresponded with Maribel in the past both thru this forum and personally and while the vast majority of the guides input is based on personal experiences there was a lot of information from other sources. I think it is naive to think otherwise as her guides includes recs for dozens and dozens of hotels, restaurants, and sights; NOBODY have stay and eaten in each and every one of those. That is no different than Rick Steves or Frommer's Guides with the difference that Maribel's Guide are better written :-D (Love her!!).

I wouldn't call CathyM naive...
Maribel's Guides are different from RS and Frommers, and even Fodor's, in that they tend to be more specific, concentrating on a particular area she enjoys and wants to share. Dining in a dozen different restaurants in two weeks is not unreasonable when you're traveling, I do it all the time, but have my favorites that I like to return to every now and then. |
ita, you can email Maribel through the 'Contact Maribel' link at the bottom of the mail page and tell them you have a Kindle and need the pdf address to download the guide onto your Kindle:
http://maribelsguides.com/ They will give you a pdf address that you can use for the Kindle. Next, you go to your Amazon Kindle account page and find your Kindle email address and then email the pdf to your Kindle address. Hope this helps... |
Yes, I mispoke on my post-- If you add the European hotels, restaurants and sights recommended on Maribel's Guides they are in the upper HUNDREDS......not dozens. Plausible if you live in Europe, but if you do not......

In two trips this year I've already stayed in 6 different hotels and will stay in another 6 in my upcoming trip. Overall, I average about 30 different hotels a year, just in Spain. That also amounts to at least 100 different restaurants for lunch or dinner, and even more pintxos and tapas bars.
Maribel only reviews/recommends hotels in selected parts of Spain, not throughout Europe, unless I've missed something. |
after looking at Maribel's website I understand why there are parameters for the use of her website. She now has a travel business and it is perfectly logical that she no longer hands out information.
I could not access the "contact Maribel" either. I will try on a Mac, but now that I know she is in business, I will probably be content with the information I printed from her site. |
CEfromLA: I just copied the guide onto my Kindle. I had no idea I could do this. Thank you

Does anyone know if you can download to a nook? I printed everything out, but the notebook is huge. Thanks!

I was just able to download the guide to my nook. All you have to do is save the pdf file, connect your nook to your computer, and then copy it (by dragging it) to your nook. Super easy!!!

ita, glad I could help!
|
BTW, where's Maribel? She's been away from the forum for so long.
|
Probably busy, updating her guides!
