Prince de Galles Hotel/Paris

Most of the postings I've found here regarding this hotel suggest it's too expensive. I have gotten a 50% off coupon for this hotel, resulting in around $270/night. I'd like a lavish room for 2 nights...is this the place or is there somewhere better for the same price?
Thanks!
Jennifer

Hotel du Louvre for the same price. The best part..its right across from the LOUVRE MUSEUM...The best location in PARIS and the metro stop from the side entrance. Can not say enough about this hotel....

More info?? email me...

Actually spent a week at the Prince de Galles back in January. No, I didn't pay those prices as it was business travel. Not sure I would reccomend it overly. Yes, it's nice and yes, the service was great but as with all these opulent hotels, it irks me that I still have to pay 5.00 for my morning coffee. So, I would say it has a nice address, is centrally located and the concierge was helpful in getting us several great dinner reservations but....not alot of bang for my buck. A final note, despite the proximity to Champs Elysee, the area is not super safe at night, a person staying with us was mugged at a nearby ATM. For what it's worth, I might stay closer to the action, which for me would be Germain des Pres area.

Hi Jennifer:
Go for it!!

We stayed there in May 1996 with a 50% coupon. We had gorgeous room overlooking a beautiful courtyard garden. The marble bathroom was exquisite! We had a balcony, a very large room, beautifuly decorated and it was on the top floor (sixth floor). We have tried to stay there again, but they would not except our 50% coupon. If they will take the coupon now, I say go for it!!!

Jennifer,

I assume you received the 50% off from Starwood, as we too have earned several 50% off nights from them. This has nothing to do with the Price de Galles Hotel (although we debated going to Paris and staying there), but was wondering if you stayed at the luxury collection hotel in London - The Sheraton Park Tower?

Harrison,

No I haven't stayed at the Sheraton in London but while planning my upcoming trip I did drool over it considerably...but I'm using Hilton points to stay at the Langham Hilton...maybe next time!

Jennifer

Stayed there for two nights in August thanks to 100% off Starwood Preferred Guest Award. Yes, the rooms were bigger than the average in Paris, well appointed and decorated. Yes, the bathroom was marble and very nice. Yes, we had a dried fruit plate and flowers in our room but we found it to be cold and sterile. Like it had no soul. We enjoyed our stay in the St Germain area with the quirky shower much more. Can't really explain it. Maybe we felt that was more the real Paris. Prince de Galles could have been a luxury hotel anywhere.
