Pricey Airfare?

Hi,
What should I expect to pay for roundtrip, economy airfare from the US (O'Hare) to Prague in October? So far I've only found fares >$650. This seems like a lot, or is it what I should expect to pay?

Maira Aug 10th, 2003 02:57 PM

That is not so bad at all--- October is still considered high to shoulder season in Europe. If you have to flight on a specific date, take it.

If you are really on a budget, Priceline is a good way to go. For October, I am flying from Atlanta to Paris, round trip, for $375 plus tax. Almost all flights to Europe are the regular overnights and occasionally, I've gotten direct flights. Some other sites to check are:www.eltexpress.com and www.travelhub.com. Good luck!

Hi Kate,

Try priceline, but unless you want to stay on the computer 24/7 looking for something better, 650 is about right for this late in the year.

Prague is a lot more expensive to fly to than major cities in Western Europe like London or Paris. That seems a decent fare to me.

Paul Laifer tours specializes in that area and also sells only air fare, if you want to try them. They have good prices.

if you can wait to nov 1 you will see that price almost drop in 1/2

Might aldo check out www.affordablepoland.com - - not just for Poland.

Or ask on the Cheap Flights forum of www.eurptrip.com

Best wishes,

Rex

Ack, the typos! "also" = also, of course.

And more importantly, it's supposed to be eurOtrip.com - - not eurPtrip.com

United has a sale on right now and I think it is for that period..although you might have to fly into another city and train it the rest of the way.
Opinions here about when the air fares will absolutely drop and to what degree remain just that: opinions!

minimn, how far in advance did you book your airfare to Paris? I'm in the planning stages of planning a trip for next July. I was wondering when to book. Thanks for the info.

ira Aug 12th, 2003 05:06 AM

Hi Elaine,

I booked a flight from the East Coast to Paris for the end of April last week. The price has risen since.

elaine123 Aug 12th, 2003 09:55 AM

Ira, thanks for the response. If you don't mind me asking, how much did you pay? Thanks!

ira Aug 12th, 2003 11:35 AM

Hi Elaine,

It was $610 on Iceland Air. I found it through http://airtravelcenter.com/onetrav.htm

Also try www.eltexpress.com

I think that it is too early for the discounted fares for July.

susancoleman Aug 12th, 2003 01:08 PM

I found low fare for November to Paris ...try onetrip.com

shaya Aug 12th, 2003 06:12 PM

Susan-
What is the web address? I've tried both www.onetrip.com and just onetrip.com without success....

You might also want to search for airfare using http://matrix.itasoftware.com/cvg/dispatch/prego
