Prices in Croatia

Could anyone give me an indication as to how expensive Croatia is. The plan is to stay in cheap accomodation, eat reasonably well and drink alcohol most evenings.
Thanks

Everything in Croatia is cheap in comparison say the Uk. You will find it easy to drink and eat for a moderate budget - I can give you specific examples but we found good quality for good prices.

I agree with the above post. It is easy to drink and eat relatively inexpensively. Your best bet at cheaper accomodation is to rent a room/apartment from a local rather than going to a hotel.

Nina

CHEAP!!!!!!!!!! I was there for a convention last October and the first nite there we went to a cute cafe--we're all drinking cappucino's, cherry brandy, beer--you name it for a group of 14- 2 rounds of drinks as well--the bill was under $20 US dollars!!!!!!! I live in NYC so we were all fighting to pick up the tab. Not very often you get to treat all your friends for under 20 dollars!!! The food was cheap too and there are expensive and inexpensive choices for housing. We stayed in very nice hotels for $100 a night and we also stayed one night in someone's room in their house for I think $20--great deal--was a perfect room looking at the ocean in Dubrovinik.
Croatia is a beautiful country. You will love it. Save room for their pastries and Italian food--they're really good at it.
I think the view must have been of the Adriatic sea, not an "ocean."

Anyway, everything is cheap in croatia. Don't pay more than $12 for a hostel and not more than $20 for a private accommodation.

We just spent a week in Croatia. We booked accommodations through www.adriatica.net and were very pleased. A little more than "on the street", but you can be assured of what you are getting ahead of time. Try it.

Thanks everyone. Is it best to book private accomodation before you go bearing in mind I will be visiting in August?
What is the climate like?
