We have always had great success with Priceline in the U.S.
Now I am getting frustrated looking for 3 nights in London in June.
Hubby wanted to stay in the Belgravia area and I do have a B & B for 126pounds per night, that's $741 for 3 nights! We are taking our 17 year old daughter and this is her first time to Europe. If we want 3 in a room, what is the deal with Priceline. Also, I have not been able to get on the biddingfortravel.com website for several weeks.

I don't think 3 to a room works unless you get a family room in London. I recently was looking and it seemed the occupancy limit is 2 in a room in most places. Might try some of the chain hotels....for that family room option.

Priceline guarantees a room for two people only. It's too risky to use Priceline for three people, especially for large cities where there is not a preponderance of rooms with two double or queen beds. You could very well be refused check-in.

You might also take a look at Hotwire, where you can book a room for three. We got a terrific deal for the Hilton Paris last September. Haven't tried London.

As has been said, Priceline only guarantees a room for 2 people. In my experience, I think most London hotel rooms are for 2 people, so it would be unlikely to win a bid on Priceline and then be able to ask for a room for 3 people.

When we travel with 2 adults and 2 kids in London, we use Priceline to get 2 rooms, use Hilton Honors points to get 2 rooms or rent an apartment.

To me, your B&B sounds reasonable for 3 nights for 3 people. I haven't used it yet, but always thought I might try www.laterooms.com - you can search for rooms for 3 people.

If you go to skoosh.com there are a lot of hotels with "family" rooms. I always check with tripadvisor once I find a hotel that looks OK.

It's possible that two rooms on Priceline might come to a lower total price than your B&B triple room. And of course it would allow all of you more privacy. However, if the B&B includes a good breakfast, you'd be giving that up.

Definitely do not bid on Priceline for one room, hoping you can somehow fit three people in it.

Hotwire for 3 people is a very good idea to look at too. Check out www.betterbidding.com for tips.

However, if your husband has specific location requirements, Priceline is not a great idea.

Thank you. That is very helpful. I'll give up on the Priceline idea and I do
actually like the bed and breakfast idea both for more "atmosphere" and for the BIG breakfast. I'm going to post a new thread regarding two b & b's I'm deciding on - one in Belgravia and one in Bloomsbury. Thanks!

Definitely give up PriceLine.

There was a poster last year on www.flyertalk.com who was FURIOUS that when his wife and kids arrived at his Priceline hotel in Paris, the hotel wanted as much to provide the extra bed as he had paid PL and refused to provide bedding for the extra child to sleep on the floor!

So I would not risk it in Europe! Personally I would be wary in the US in major cities too.

A B&amp;B may be what you want - but don't expect a budget B&amp;B in London to be a cozy, &quot;twee&quot; B&amp;B like you might find in the Cotswolds or in the Lake District.

The term &quot;bed and breakfast&quot; when talking about London - usually means a small, basic hotel that serves breakfast of some sort. They are mainly cheap hotels w/o any public space except for a breakfast room (most often) in the basement

Travelodge - a room can be booked for Family Room(Non-smoking) - &pound;105.00 per night. Booking two rooms via priceline might be cheaper.

There are cheaper ways to stay in London. Do yo need fancy or basic. If basic, then I have booked rooms around victoria station for example, for around 55-65&pound; per night, per room.

Also,look at laterooms.com. I found a hotel, MACDONALD HOTEL, that is 55&pound; per night for 3 single beds, june 18. When you go to laterooms, and put in you city and date, a set of columns appears. Click the price at the top and it will sort by cheapest.

Upgraded Youth Hostel Association Hostels at 7 fairly central locations in London. Now have family rooms as well as dormitories.
