I also ordered tickets from Virgin Atlantic, Chicago to London, and I am paying $852 each for three people. I know now that I should never have checked the price again, but the very same tickets were available from Virgin and several other airlines for almost half the price. I wrote, called and e-mailed Virgin Atlantic and was told that there was nothing they could do about lowering the price. I will never check prices again after purchasing tickets. In this case, ignorance would have been bliss. My only consolation is that the tickets are higher now. Yes, I'm still checking.

This is slightly different here.

I thought that certain airlines like American Airlines that will refund the client the difference in price if the fare decreases. I'm not so sure but I thought it was discussed here before. And I don't know if they still offer this policy and if they do if they refund within a certain period after the ticket is purchased.

pattykayak, I feel your pain - I still go and check every week or so - were you born in September by any chance....oh well, hopefully someone learned something from this post - my only intention. Have a great trip, all.

I don't let this bother me anymore because I figure there are times when I get really cheap deals like when my father was sick and I had to buy a ticket the day before I left from Geneva to Boston and got it for 290 swiss francs, including transportion! So it all balances out in the end...
