Price increases for public transportation (except the Easy)
Beginning November 1st, tickets t+ for those using a Navigo Easy will not cost any more than using the magnetic, paper tickets t+ (the Navigo Easy card still will cost 2€). The price of the paper tickets t+, purchased in groups of ten, will increase from 14.90€ to 16.90€. Loading 10 tickets t+ to a Navigo Easy will still cost 14.90€ or 16.90€ including the price of the Navigo Easy card.
Other paper ticket increases: Roissybus - 12€ using the Easy, 13.70€ for a paper ticket. Orlybus - 8.30€ using the Easy, 9.50€ for a paper ticket. _____ Individual tickets t+ will remain at 1.90€. Ticket de bus à bord (tickets purchased directly from a bus driver) are unchanged at 2€. |
Fares had not risen in more than 2 years, so it really isn't too bad.
Of course I can say that because I qualify for 100% free transportation in the Paris metropolitan area. :muni: |

kerouac, I would nominate you for free transportation just based on your contributions to this group!

So I guess I should load up on carnets now. Or bite the bullet and get a navigo. I hear that I can use my Smartphone soon.

As of September 25th, you may use a smartphone to purchase Navigo fares (daily, weekly, or monthly passes) as well as booklets of tickets t+. Fares remain as they are currently. The phone itself is used as a Navigo card. You must have:

Fares go up all the time in lots of cities, its inflation. In Paris, they usually go up around July 1st, seems to me. At least they used to, it wasn't something unusual for a rate hike to happen periodically.

Will metro tickets purchased in Dec. 2018 still be good this Nov. 2019? |
I have a ton of old individual tickets. What happens to them?
|
The previously purchased individual tickets will remain valid for transport.
|
Metro tickets never expire. I imagine that even when paper tickets are finally eliminated, there will also be a way to turn in unused tickets for a credit.
