Prettiest towns of Amalfi Coast

Please help deciding how to spend 5 days on the Amalfi Coast. I would like a list from the most beautiful down of the most picturesques towns to visit on the Amalfi Drive.

Hi,
On the Amafi drive itself, you can start in Sorrento, but I think "the drive" actually starts at Positano. From there you will go through Praiano and then to Amalfi. From Amalfi you drive up to Revello. I am not sure what towns are between Positano and Sorrento. It was a beautiful drive, but I don't remember any villages. We did not go beyond Revello and I do not think that beyond Revello is technically the Amalfi Drive. The drive itself seems to be about 16 miles from Positano to Amalfi. If others have more information please correct me.

We stayed in Positano and thoroughly enjoyed its beauty. We also enjoyed shopping and visiting Amalfi, although we did not think it to be as beautiful. Stunningly beautiful were Ravello and Montepertuso, and we had some great food at both as well.

Hi robi,

Are you wondering where to stay?

I spent 2 wonderful weeks on the Amalfi coast last year. Loved Positano and Ravello. I thought Amalfi was not nearly as picturesque. Although I loved the people and had a wonderful hotel and good food. Are you needing places to stay?

I would like to piggyback in this thread. How long does it take to drive from Sorrento to Positano? How about from Positano to Ravello and then to Salerno?

Enjoy your visit, Tuck.

Hi cooper,

Go to www.mappy.com and www.viamichelin.com for driving routes and times.

Hi Coopesr,
I am not sure how long a drive it is, but my memory is it was about a 1 hour bus drive from Praiano to Sorrento, and Praiano is farther away than Positano. Therefore if you have a car I would assume it would take about 30 minutes max. Have fun!

See Town and Country Traveler Magazine, April or March issue. Positano is on the cover. If you don't want the price tag of Le Sirenuse, Villa Rosa offers the same view. Villa Rosa is a lovely and clean family run hotel. We loved it! We were there last week.

So, what happened to robi?

Hi, Jun04, I just wanted to ask you what you preferred out of Positano and Ravello. I'm trying to decide where to stay and can't decide.

suki 7,

Ravello is inland and much more quiet than Positano. It has beautiful gardens and, in the summer, classical music concerts many nights in town. But it seems removed from the rest of the coast, and doesn't have as many restaurants, shops, or as much to do as the other towns like Positano.

Positano is a honeymooner's and romantic paradise. It has spectacular vertical views of the whitewashed houses and beach. And it is very close to Montepertuso, where I had one of the best meals of my entire life at a small trattoria called IL RITROVO.

Positano and Ravello can both be overrun with tourists in the summer season, but Positano is probably a little worse that way.

Good luck with your choice!

I think it's a very personal choice. Take a look at the Go family photos and see which calls out to you.

Catbert, what are the go photos?
