Prescription Paris Question

I am an American visiting Paris right now. I usually take alprazolam (generic version for xanax) when I’m having an anxiety attack. I am all out and my doctor is out of town. Where can I go to get a prescription? Or can I even get one. This is a controlled substance in the US so I’m not sure if it’s difficult to obtain since I need it asap.Â

I don't know about this specific med, but I'd walk into any pharmacy and ask them. They'll be able to tell you how to do it. Bring your current pill bottle with the Rx info if you have it, or maybe find a record of your Rx on your home doc's web portal, insurance website, or pharmacy app....that may help them know what to give you.

If necessary, you could also see a doctor at the American Hospital in Paris. https://www.american-hospital.org/en...ional-patients

Going to the American Hospital would be an unecessary expense since it is in reality a French private hospital and not even in Paris. Great marketing, though, since Americans tend to flock to it. If necessary, just find an ordinary English speaking doctor in Paris (Google is your friend) who will be able to prescribe whatever the doctor thinks you need. A French GP charges 25 euros for a visit, and specialists charge 35 euros if they are part of the French health system. Doctors outside of the health system can charge whatever they want.

Are you staying at a hotel? They may be able to direct you to a local doctor.
