Premier Inn
I'm trying to decide between Premier Inn - County Hall or Waterloo. Has anyone have experience with these and which would be a better location with sights within walking distance and easy access to Eurostar.
|
County Hall by a long shot. That location just under the Eye is amazing. As far as I know, no rooms in that location have great views, my room looked out on Belvedere Road, which is fine until you realize the other side of the building is the river. In any event, the County Hall location is GREAT. The walk to any of the two closest tube stations is short, and there are close bus stops, too. When I stay there, I always end the evening with a nice walk along the river. Just perfect.

Have you looked them up on a map - They are less than a block from each other. No difference at all location wise.
Eurostar leaves from St Pancras - Getting from either hotel to St Pancras would be the same. Neither is on a direct tube line to St Pancras but you can get there w/ a line change (or tube to Euston and a walk from there) But location -- they are identical. County Hall would probably be the harder to get into because it has been around l a long time and it is very popular. The are walking distance to the Eye (on their doorsteps), Big Ben/Westminster Abbey just across the river, and the whole south Bank. |
Any thoughts on Premier Inn County Hall vs. Premier Inn Blackfriars? We will have 2 kids with us and plan to do the usual tourist things. I'm sure either will be fine, I just can't decide if either has a slight advantage. Thanks.

Again, county hall. Nothing wrong with blackfriars but it is in the city, more of the business district and much quieter area after 6pm.
|
PI County Hall would be a more 'fun' location. Next door to the Eye and directly across the river from Big Ben.
PI Blackfriars is pretty close to St Pauls but is in a business district Either would be fine but County Hall probably better w/ children |
Thank you. County Hall might not be available. If that is the case, which location would you recommend next:
Blackfriar Kings Cross (we are taking train to Paris) Waterloo Southwark (Tate) Southwark (Borough Market) |
I would prefer the ones by the river so any except the kings cross location would work for me.
|
Kings Cross is of course the nearest to St Pancras . . . But I wouldn't book a place based on Proximity to one station for one train journey.
I agree the others are all close to the river and to important sites. Blackfriar -- St Pauls Southwark -- the market, Southwark Cathedral, the Globe, Tate Modern Waterloo -- essentially across the road from the County Hall property, so the Eye, Big Ben, Parliament, Westminster Abbey |
Kings Cross in spite of St Pancras International Eurostar Station being there and that immediate area being spruced up still would be way down on my list of places to stay - I say that after having stayed there many times because it was or perhaps still is a den on inexpensive hotels - and yes you get what you pay for. Have not been in the area in a few years but suspect not much difference and an out of the way location.

Thanks for you quick responses.
