prebooking for edinburgh for late march

my husband and i will be in edinburgh from march 28-30. we were wondering if we needed to book ahead to get a b&b or guest house at that time. we had hoped that there would be availability as it not peak season.
would it be advisable to make reservations for those dates? or is it safe to arrive and "wing it?" we appreciate any and all input.
thank you.

As sheila says - you will have no problem finding a place to stay. However - if you want to stay in a specific property you should book ahead.

If you are flexible and can stay in any sort of place - that's one thing. But if you've found a wonderful B&B you think you want, that is something else.

The ONLY places I always book ahead are London, Dublin, Edinburgh, and Paris. Not because you can't get rooms at the last minute - but because I usually want to stay in specific areas or have a set price range.
