Prague with a pram!

Me, my mum and my 18 month old are going to Prague in December. I've read many posts on this site, but am still confused about the best area to stay, considering I will have a babe in pram with me - are most of the streets accessible?
We will probably want to make short trips to places, with stops in between for refuelling and nappy chnages...
Many thanks in advance

By pram do you mean carriage? Or is that used to mean a stroller too? Considering what the streets are like in Prague (lots of cobblestones) I would reco a very light weight stroller that you can fold and carry on public transit. Also you may want to consider a back or front tote - not sure how old your baby is - which may be more interesting for him/her than just looking at everybody's knees.

i've never been to prague but i agree about the baby backpack. my son is 3 now and too big for his backpack. oh how i long for the days when he was up where he could see more than just the tushies in front of him and i could feel just what he was up to. sure you get snacks stuck in your hair but you never have to unload, fold and carry like you do with a stroller. backpack is easier in shops, museums, buses, etc.

nytraveler is correct - most, almost all of the streets of Prague are cobblestone, and many of the sidewalks (barring the squares) are narrow and interrupted by shopkeepers' displays and various parking signs. If you will be using public transport such as the trams or metro, definitely bring an umbrella stroller (easily collapsible) as the metro access is mostly by stairs (lots of broken elevators) and the trams do not have areas for prams (and they also have stairs). Then again, an umbrella stroller will be a pretty rough ride on the cobblestone, so if you can, go with trishiad's baby backpack if you can. Good luck!

Hi.

We have a big 3 wheeler golf and it works just fine, our daughter loves the ride on the cobbles. You have no problem getting around the city by walking and as far as the trams, I beg to differ, at the back of each car there is a large standing area perfect for prams. people will always be willing to give you a hand up the 3 tram steps if you are by yourself!
