PRAGUE: which areas to avoid

Regarding accomodations, any recommendations on what areas to avoid in Prague?
Thank you!

pretty much the only place to worry of is the train station at night if anywhere. All else is safe really.
I have been 7 times in the past 3 years. Been out at night by myself very late and never ever had problem

Both the Main train station and Masarykovo train station plus the bus station at Florenc should be avoided. The only other dodgy place is Zizkov and even that is getting better. For a guide written by me and based on my 7 years living here click below;

http://www.jasoncholt.com/prague/index.html

Jason

DO NOT GET IN A TAXI unless it is called for by someone at a hotel. EVER!! Walk in the middle of the night if you have to, to a hotel, and THEN get a taxi. Period. Also, if you find yourself in Old Town watching the clock change. Put your purse and backpacks etc, in front of you and have your hand on them at all times. Prague is known for the taxi nightmares and pickpockets...other than that it is a WONDERFUL city to visit.

I think Prague is a very safe city and one I enjoy relaxing in. I felt safe anywhere near the city centre. As for taxi's, you really only need to know which companies to use. Have your hotel, or restaraunt call for AAA or Profi. You can waive one of these down in the street as well. The situation has improved with taxi's which used to be a placed to get ripped off.
