Prague / Vienna / Budapest in 15 days - itinerary help
Making a trip through Czech Rep, Austria and Hungary before heading home to the US for the summer. Leaving Spain 1 June, arriving Prague in the afternoon; departing Prague 15 June in the morning. Trying to decide how many nights each place needs / deserves. I am staying with friends in each place. Possible day trip / one night in Salzburg and Bratislava.
Appreciate your help! 1 - travel day to Prague, arrive PM, afternoon in city, evening in town outside 2 - town outside Prague with friend 3 - wknd in Vienna 4 - Vienna 5 - Vienna 6 - stay another day in Vienna / one day / night in Salzburg? 7 - one day in Bratislava? 8 - Budapest 9 - Budapest 10 - Budapest 11 - Budapest (is 4 days too many?) 12 - Prague 13 - Prague 14 - Prague o night for early flight 15 - travel day from Prague |
You don't LOOK blonde.
4 days in Budapest too much? Not at your age. It struck me as a town young people would enjoy. Bratislava? Not so much. But maybe if you've a friend there, worth a day. |
Looks fine to me.
Salzburg can be seen as a long day trip from Vienna (out via train in the morning, back in the evening) if that's of interest. |
actually, I really like your itinerary.
having spent a night in Bratislava, i would definitely stay over, and ditto Salzburg - you'll get a lot more out of both of them by staying a night. However, I might rearrange the schedule a bit, and go from Prague to Salzburg, then Vienna. one night in Bratislava then onto Budapest. I just checked the timetables on www.bahn.de and the train journey from Prague to Salzburg is about an hour shorter than the one to Vienna, so if you were going to use the train, that would work for me. |
thanks for the help! luckily I am staying with friends at the major stops (Prague, Vienna, Budapest) - but will be looking for accommodations in Salzburg and Bratislava.
Good suggestion on rearranging the travel - but we are confirmed for the first wknd in Vienna due to availability of the host, so my train rides will backtrack a bit, but if it's anything like trains in Spain the views will be worth it. |
hm... from Salzburg to Vienna i would rent a car and drive to the beautiful valley of Wachau, plenty of old very nice villages there, build on the river of Danube. It would make the trip from Salzburg to Vienna a Fullday activity, but it's totally worth it, believe me.. Just my 2 cents
