Is it possible to get from Prague to Lithuania, preferably Vilnus, not by air?<BR>Thank you

It is a pleasure. Warsaw Central station has a 24-hour left luggage office, and it is pleasant to take a bus to the old Town, to stroll and dine there. The only dinner at that hour at Central station is pretty awful.<BR><BR>Ben Haines

Ehen in Vilnius, take a day trip to Trakai. It is a very beautiful place, with an old red brick castle on a small island in a lake. I took a train there 4 years ago. I guess you can get more info on www.inyourpocket.com, the best source of info for this part of the world. The old capital Kaunas and the sand dune near Nida on the Curonian Split is also worth a journey. Thomas Mann had a summer house there. I took a bus from Klaipeda (Memel when the town was German).

Sorry for the half answer. On 19 June Warsaw to Vilnius basic fare, first class, was 97 zloties or 26 euros, so second class would be about 17 euros. Double those to include a sleeper for the night, or add 10 euros for a couchette berth. In January the basic second class fare from Prague to Warsaw was about 50 euros. Add 30 euros for a sleeper, or 10 for a couchette.<BR><BR>I expect that you can buy the whole deal, basic ticket plus reservations, in Prague. Cedok in central Prague is a more comfortable place than Hlavni station, and charges the fares that Hlavni charges.<BR><BR>Ben Haines<BR>
