Prague to airport?

How do you affordably get from Prague center to the airport? I hear there are several very cheap subway/public bus combinations, but they may have pitfalls in finding way and exact change, etc. What about some private but affordable minibus options I hear about - how do I hook up with them downtown? (I will not have flown into Prague) thanks

There are airport private cars and group shuttle vans right at the curb at the airport that are very cheap. Last time (last May) I took a group shuttle as I was in no hurry and it was only about 250 CK, as I recall (less than 10 euro). I could be remembering wrong, but the price wasn't high at all. I took a private airport car another time (which are at the curb, also) and it was more, of course, but still only about 15-20 euro. Now I have not done it in reverse, that's true, but these are standard companies so I would think your hotel would know about them and could call, if they do the reverse trip. If they are really no help, go to the tourist office, I'm sure they can tell you.

You can get to the airport for the price of a transport ticket i.e. 12 crowns (less than 50c).

Take the A (green) line metro to Devicka, the end of the line, then follow the exit sign to the stairs leading to the buses and trams.

Take the 119 - the bus stop is just across the road by a number of kiosks and it has a little picture of a plane on it - all the way to the airport.

The bus takes 20-30 minutes.

One note of CAUTION..parts of the Prague metro were not operating due to the flooding that occurred last August as recently as a few weeks ago. I do NOT know if the connections to the airport were involved. You might also consider, depending on how much hassle you want to put up with, contacting your arrival hotel,,if that is what it is and asking them if they can provide transport and what is the cost...can be done via e-mail. I would try to AVOID taxis at all costs since in Prague they CAN be ridiculously fraudulent.

Everton is right. We just got back from Prague this week and did not experience any problem with metro or tram lines when we were there. The 119 bus runs frequently and takes only 20 minutes to the airport. You can either buy a day pass (1-day, 3-day or weekly) upon your arrival from tourist office or travel agent to cover all your public transportation in Prague including the one to the airport. Or you can buy the ticket at 15 crowns from the bus driver. But if you have more luggages, then consider taking the shuttle mini-bus. There's a mini-bus stop near the Municipal House.

N.B. All public transport is back to normal now in Prague.

For a safe taxi firm use AAA (tel 14014) - computerised and they speak English. They will give you make and number of the car coming for you and don't rip you off!!

I understand that the Cedaz company operates minivans that run from the airport to Namesti Republiky metro stop leaving the airport every half hour. I assume you could take it to go to the airport from that location. The price is 90 kc ($3.00 US).
