Prague questions

Hoffmeister Hotel-comments from people are contradictory. Is it well located? The Maximillian and the Iron Gate were recommended as alternatives. What do you know about these three hotels mainly relative to location.

Do you really need to make reservations at David's before you go?

What is the safest way to get to our hotel from the airport? There will be three women travelling.

Anyone know what music, concerts etc will be there May 23-30?

Weather comments for May 23-30?

See weatherbase.com or www.worldclimate.com

I'm not sure about events... the "famous" website by Jason C. Holt - - especially this page... http://www.livingprague.com/use.htm might be of some general use to you.

Don't know your other questions' answers.

Best wishes,

Rex

We stayed at the Maximilian ([email protected]) and loved it. We thought it was well located (it's in Josefov) and there are two restaurants nearby (Red Wheel and Chez Marcel) that were handy and the food good after a long day's sightseeing. The included breakfast was more elaborate than most. The staff was pleasant and helpful.

We used Prague Shuttle www.prague-airport-shuttle.com and received very good service. Taxis in Prague are iffy we were told, except for one company, AA I believe it was called.

Can't help with David's.

I have a page of websites for Prague. If you would like them, please email me.

I was there last May but a week earlier than you. There was a Music festival going on. You may want to look into that. There was no shortage of concerts that were not part of the Festival. You can try Smetana concert hall for concerts.

The weather was moderate. You needed a light coat most days. The rain pattern was kind of interesting. It started pouring real hard for an hour and then it stopped as if nothing has happened. The locals told me it is typical of that time of the year. Even Umbrella could not protect you and you needed to take shelter till it ended.

Their Taxis seemed safe to me but you may want to ask the driver how much is the charge before getting on. I was traveling alone and took a cab from the train station to the place I was staying and later to the airport. Both were during the day and seemed ok contrary to what I have heard. You can always ask the hotel to send you a transfer driver if you feel safer.

Have fun…

A few days ago I was with 12 persons in Prague in David. I made a reservation for for such a group of course. There are only 2 rooms in fact in this restaurant so if you want to be sure you make a reservation. Nevertheless, that evening were free tables (for about 10-12 persons)enough, but nowadays the high season has begun, so..
I have really good experience with prague-shuttle-airport transfer, too. We were delayed more than an hour and in spite of that the driver waited for us at the airport. Everyone has got a map of Prague from the driver, too . Later, when we were leaving Prague, he was very punctually to pick us up from hotel. We had another problem - we've got another hotel the last day before the departure than the reservation was - and they solved that promptly as well. Have a nice time in Prague!
Best wishes

I was very pleased with the Hoffmeister Hotel, but did find it to be just slightly out of the way. We do lots of walking, so it didn't bother me but when I go to Prague again I will stay someplace closer in.

I also recommend Prague Airport Shuttle. It's an excellent service and well worth it.
