Prague metro question
 

Does anyone know if I have to purchase a ticket for my luggage in addition to my metro ticket. My guidebook doesn't mention it, but I read on another website that if you take a suitcase on the metro, you must puchase a 13kc ticket for it as well.

We certainly didn't have to last year. The metro is very easy to use and was very crowded during busy times, but we took it from the train station and then back again with luggage with no problems.

It depends how big your luggage is. It should be okay if it is a 24 inch suitcase or smaller. I think the limits are 25x45x70 cm without having to pay extra. And I think you are allowed 3 bags of that size.

if you buy a 24hr ticket 100czk then there is no need to buy a separate luggage ticket,there is a stall at the airport where you can buy transport ticket.
The MOSTIMPORTANT thing to do is to VALIDATE your ticket,you will little yellow box like thing at the entrance to the escalator aere and on the trams an buses.you must place your ticket in them to have them stamped before you travel down into the metro platforms and as soon as you get on a tram or bus.
You need only do this once per timed ticket.
There are a lot of ticket inspectors about(Plain clothed) and they are ruthless,you can't argue with them and they are as happy to fine locals as they are to fine visitors.

Are foreign pensioners allowed the "senior" fares in Prague?
Apparently, one needs a "PIT" card, but the above site doesn't explain what that is.

According to above, senior fare is valid only to EU citizens. If you are, then in order to get the card, you need photo, go to a certain office to apply (don't know if you can get it right on the spot). Sounds time consuming and maybe not worth if your stay is just for a few days.
