Prague -March 2005
 

Hello,

We are planning to go to Prague March 2005 to celebrate our 20th anniversary.
I know that weather is unpredictable but to those who have gone at this time of the year what was your experience?
Contemplating of taking go-today.com winter special promo.

Hi enjoylife - I was there with my husband this past March and we had a blast - if you click on my name you should be able to find my overly verbose trip report. We, too, used the go-today.com special, and enjoyed staying at the kinsky garden hotel. The weather varied - on the day we arrived it was a freakishly warm 70+ degrees, and then hung around the high 40's - low 50's for the rest, with intermittent rain. There's just no way of telling, but as long as your plans are flexible there's tons to do both inside and outside... Have a great trip! I'd love to go back!

I was there early this past March. There was a coating of snow on the ground when we arrived, and all during the arrival day there was a steady snowfall. The snow remained on the ground the following day, and it was cold, I'd guess mid 30sF.
The following days the temps moderated into the 40s during the day. We wore winter clothing of course, and esp on the first two days were very glad to have hats, and low boots.
Still, we absolutely loved it, but I will plan my visit for another season just for a change.
At least it wasn't very crowded, though by no means empty of tourists, and we remarked that if Prague had that many visitors in March we imagined it must be VERY crowded in the summer.

Hmmm....I'm considering visiting there next March myself. I would like to visit more cities while I'm there and Go-today only offers a Prague/Berlin/Dresden (no interest at all) combo. Any suggestions for alternate cities that would make a good daytrip? Or will we manage to stay busy in Prague all seven days?

I went in March a few years ago and it was 65 and sunny the whole time. it's an amazing city and so nice to see it without crowds. We did Berlin and prague and it's a great combo. 7 days I think is too much for prague itself but too little for berlin and prague. what about doing the czech countryside for a few days? there is an article in this months conde naste traveller about the czech countryside - it looks amazing!!

I thought I'd mention, just as one opinion, that I have friends who, during their first visit in central Europe, chose Berlin, Dresden, and Prague for the trip. They loved Prague as most do, they thought Dresden was pretty much a waste of time (keep in mind it was largely destroyed in WWII) and they so fell in love with Berlin that they've said they could consider living there. Of course, their trip was in the month of May, but still...
