haven't thought about Prague much, but after reading this, and looking at pix, it seems more and more worth a visit - bookmarking

Stay at this place. Great location, rooms, authenticity and prices. About 100 Euros or USD. I don't remember how we pad.

We have returned from Prague and it is my new favorite city. I consider it to be as wonderful as Paris, and so much cleaner.

To me Prague by far surpasses Prais. It is my favourite city in the world - cannot get enough of it! The architecure is simply amazing, the surroundings are lovely, there is so much to see and do and eat!

Just wanted to add my vote for Hotel Roma. Just had 7 nights there booked via the avetravel web site for Euro 545 for a double room with breakfast. Staff very helpful, internet access free and vital for my partner and local restaurants were all very good including the mexican on the same side street as this hotel's no 2 entrance and the Rybarsky Klub down on the Korma island. Good fish at a reasonable price (unlike the super posh one 300 metres away)

I would balk at paying Euro 200 a night at full price

I recommend you go at least once to Charles' Bridge in early morning before the crowd arrives. I have done it a few times around 7h - 8h am. So much better to appreciate all there is. I have just uploaded an album from my trip a week ago. Some photos are of such early morning on the bridge.(igonore the first 4 photos. They are specially for 2 friends of mine.)

The construction work that started on Charles' Bridge in AUG/SEP has not progressed much from Sep when I was there. Only a small part of the beginning of Mala Strana side is covered but overall the work doesn't spoil the scenery (at least not yet). I will see again how it goes in coming Christmas.

The Hilton is in an absolutely dreadful location, far from everything. You DO NOT want to stay there. Dreadful, sweetie darling.

Absolutely false. It's a very nice property. 2 minute walk to the metro and main bus station. Just stayed there for 5 nights and found it to work very well. If the price is right or Hilton is your choice, by all means, stay here.

I agree with dr travels. Although it was a hike to the major sights, the train and subway were a stone throw away. If you cut thru the office building across the street you could be at the station in 2 minutes.

Lovely hotel with a fabulous work out facility (this is important to us). My only beef was the outrageously high prices for breakfast. I cannot eat an ala cart $12.00 omelet. If the buffet is included in your rate it is fabulous, otherwise walk thru the aforementioned office building, turn left, and there is a bakery with lovely breads, croissants, rolls, etc. for about .50 each.
