Prague - Mala Strana restaurants ??

In December we are staying 4 nights at the Hotel Pod Vezi in Mala Strana right by the Charles Bridge. Can anyone suggest good restaurants near there ?

galiano:

I had a favorite on Nerudova Street, the very steep street leading to the castle: "Tri Houlicek" (with a casting of three violins over the door), on the right hand side of the street going up. I trust it is still there...cozy little place with excellent choices at a time ('93)when Czech food left a lot to be desired. (we've stayed at The Three Ostriches..."U Tri Pstrosu"..alongside the bridge a few steps from the Mala Strana end.)
It. too, has a very good restaurant.

Little Whale

Above two are located at Maltézské námìstí (Maltese Square) near Maltese Chruch. Perhaps 5 minutes walk from your hotel.

Also David, only a bit farther, 2, 3 minutes more, nearby the street where the American Embassy is located. David is behind Hotel Alchemyst.

Perhaps a little more expensive than the other two.

We liked Hertegova Cihelna )www.kampagroup.com/en/restaurant.php?rid=1) - more for the great views of Charles Bridge rather than the food (although the lamb was delicious). If you're visiting in Summer, ask for a table on the terrace. It's located in the grounds of the Franz Kafka Museum and it's relatively expensive.

Kampa Park is great, but very expensive.

We enjoyed Tri Stoleti - Misenska, 4

As long as we are talking about restaurants, where can you get good pig knuckles? These are prominently displayed in many restaurant windows in Germany (particularly Munich), and some guide books have indicated they are available as well in the Czech Republic. How do you even say it in Czech?

Don't know about pig knuckles, but U Schnellu restaurant - diagonally across from the Malostranska tram stop, and in the direction of the castle - is great for a casual meal. They also serve Kozel beer (dark, "cerny") and it is great!
