Prague in February
 

Has anyone visited Prague in February, is there snow and how cold does it get. Is there a bus service from the airport to Mala Strana as what I have read about the taxis is very worrying.

Hi Ian, <BR> <BR>I would say it would be hit or miss on the snow. I would plan for temps to be 30-40F (high). In Feb., it is often very overcast and occassional high polution days, that it seems like you could cut the air with a knife. However, I feel that this adds a bit of mystic to the Charles Bridge and architechture. You truly feel like you stepped back into medevil times. <BR> <BR>As far as the bus/cabs... The cabs from the airport are reliable and reasonable. Its the ones in town that you have to watch out for. Although if you are trying to do it cheaply, then the bus/metro is definitely the way to go. I think a 12 CZK ticket (~.30 USD) would get you to Mala Strana. To do so, you take the bus (I think it is #119) to the end of the metro stop. It is actually not bad, if you don't have a lot of luggage... If you are really interested in more details on the bus/metro route, let me know and I will look it up for you.

We visited Prague a couple of years ago at the end of February. Yes it was cool, but generally dry. We had one evening when it snowed as we waled back across the Charles Bridge (wife thought this was terribly romantic!) Also had one bright sunny day, ideal for walking up to the castle and the Petrin Tower for great views. We had no difficulty with the taxis although English is not widely spoken. <BR> <BR>BTW, don't miss the opera and the puppet theatre if you're even half interested in classical music - you'll never forget it.

Make that "walked back" - I hate my IR keyboard.

I visited Prague in Feb. Perhaps we were lucky but we had temps in the 50's and clear, sunny skies. Have a great trip.
