Prague in December?

Hello, need opinions please! DH has a business trip and I hate to pass up the opportunity to see Prague. It would be over our anniversary weekend in December, for about 3 days (not counting travel days). Ideally I would rather go in spring or early autumn where we could do more outdoorsy stuff, but this is such a great opportunity and we can always bundle up, right?

Has anyone been there during the dead of winter and would you say it is worth the trip?

Why not?

You don't need a burning sun to visit a city.

Take appropriate winter clothing with you and you will be fine.

Prague in December is beautiful. The main square is all set up for Christmas - complete w/ markets, HUGE tree, stages for various entertainment, etc. Yes, it could be cold and yes - it is def. worth the trip.

hi, 4sammy,

we went between Christmas and New Year about 3 years ago. It was a great place to be - lots of concerts, the christmas market, etc. All the shops and museums were open, we went to the opera, and a lovely concert in the municipal hall, and being a country used to snow, they coped well with whatever the climate threw at them.

Do go - you'll have a great time,

regards, ann

Ditto lks6671 and annhig. We were in Prague and Budapest over Christmas and New Year's in 2001; one of our best trips ever!!We dressed for the cold and enjoyed the strolling with stops for coffee or soup. In the "clock" square, pick up brochures for that evening's events. We went to the "Bohemian saxophone quintet" in the Municipal House (lovely Art Noveau Hall) and a symphony concert at the Rudolfinum. Enjoy!

Hi 4,

>DH has a business trip... It would be over our anniversary weekend ... this is such a great opportunity ...<

Why are you even thinking about it?

Do you have a hotel picked out?
