Prague Hotels, Restaurants & Sights?

I am taking my first trip to Prague with a friend and I would love suggestions on places to stay, eat and visit. Thanks for any and all advice!

I have a page of websites, as well as a couple of lists I compiled (for our trip in 2003) for things to see and do and restaurants, which may or may not be to your tastes. You're welcome to any or all of it if you will just e-mail me and tell me what you'd like me to e-mail back.

http://www.livingprague.com/ is a helpful website put together by a Prague local-- good tips on food, lodging, safety, etc.
Also search this site for tons of Prague threads.
It's a beautiful city and you'll love it.

Hi
I have a long file on Prague myself; if you'd like to see it,email me at
[email protected]

How much time will you have?
What sort of things interest you in Prague? What kind of budget did you have in mind for hotel and meals?

If you click at the top of this page on Destinations, you can find some information to start with. Perhaps then ask more specific questions.
good luck

For restuarants, pretty much my friends and I ate on a budget (which is easy in Prague). Here are my recommendations:

1. My friend and I went to an Italian rest. and ordered an apettizer and pasta. We paid roughly US$4 each! The food was great and plentiful. The restaurant is Pizzeria Giovanni Restaurante. It's a little hard to find but it is near the Old Town square. Found this website on it:

2. Bar Bar

A cute, artsy cafe in Mala strana with great salads, snacks, and crepes. Good for lunch if you are visiting the castle in the morning.

3.Kure v Hodinkach (Chicken in Watch)

We stumbled upon this great restaurant. OUr hotel was in the zizkov area and we passed by it many times and decided to eat there the last nite - great decision! Its a neighborhood, laidback, smaller version of Hard Rock Cafe and the food is pretty good too.

4. Dahab

Teahouses are popular in Prague and this one is themed in Moroccon decor and menu. There are even hookahs all around the place! Its also a restaurant and lounge. I didn't have the food here - just tea and desert so I can't comment on the what the meals taste like but they have a great selection of tea and drinks.

Hi
We really enjoyed our evening at Restaurant U Rotta - beautiful building, and good (inexpensive) food. My husband ate potato soup served in a hollowed out loaf of bread. There's live entertainment each evening too. It has it's own website -
www.restaurace-rott.com
As for places to stay - The Golden Wheel. www.thegoldenwheel.com
