Prague Hotels - Recommendation Please
 

At this point considering two hotels for June 2006;

Hotel Maximilian and Hotel Leonardo.

Looking for the 200Euro range;
air conditioned
hair dryer
breakfast & tax
elevator

Nice, clean, location is important but luxury is not definitely not.

Other similar hotels could also be added to the list of possibilities.

Look into the Cerkovta, not 100% certain about elevator but it is well-located and well-reviewed and it's breakfast is said to be good. This hotel is not at the same level as the Maximilian, but you said luxury isn't as important

I stayed at the Maximilian twice and liked it very much. It's a great location and well-run hotel. I know they have redecorated in the last year or so and now are modern/minimal decor which I don't personally care for, but if you know that and like it or don't care, I'd recommend it highly. It's not a luxury hotel by my definition, just a nice 4* (but not deluxe one). They had a really good buffet breakfast at the Maximilian, and of course, all the other stuff you want. Note that I had a room on the top floor once (6) and the elevator doesn't go that far, you had to walk up one flight.

I never heard of the Leonardo.

We stayed at the K&K Central. Lovely art nouveau building with a moderne decor. Great location , near the Powder Keg Tower. It WAS in your price range this summer.

If I remember correctly I don't think Cetovka has A/C.

I'll have to check my notes.

I've just made reservations for a superior room at the Maximilian for next July, 176 Euros/night including their breakfast.

They seem to fit your requirements and are highly regarded on this board and on tripadvisor.

I have not been there. I'm just going on what I have been reading lately.

Did you know they are part of the Golden Tulip chain, so you can book online at goldentulip.com or go directly to the hotel website (which is what I did). Booking is easy and you get instant confirmation.

Thanks. I was looking at both the Maximilian and Leonardo. Leonardo is closer to the Bridge. More people seem to be commenting on the Max.

I was wondering about your rate. Is that 176E for a Superior Double? Is that the standard rate or Preference rate. The preference rate it obviously less expensive but the restrictions are no cancellation permitted.

Exeprience has shown me to be a little more cautious.

I think I'll take the standard double rate of 176 just to be safe.

Our plan calls for leaving the US May 31. Since this trip is on air miles, and we can stop on the way home, we'll be spening the better part of 5 days in Prague, 3 days in Budapest and then stop in Brussels. From Brussels we'll immediately go to Brugge for most of 2 days, 2 days in Amsterdam and part of 2 days in Bryussels before flying back home. The end part looks a bit hectic but it's a lot slower than it appears with relatively short train travel.

Yes, my rate is for the superior double standard rate. I don't like to prepay for hotels this far ahead. The closer I get to the trip, I may consider re-booking at the prepay rate if it's still available.

Try the Hotel Constans, some of their rooms have a/c

Elaine, I've booked at Hotel Constans: app. 107 euros/night for family suite and breakfast. I'm going in Nov for 1 week. Trip Advisor and Thomas Cook forums love this hotel. Can you tell me anything about it? Were there close by restaurants you liked? We're coffee nuts-was it okay at hotel or should I bring my own. And, did you arrange for hotel to transport you from airport? thanks.

Myer-maybe you'll check out this hotel, via Thomas Cook or Trip Advisor. In Lesser Town, close to bridge and castle and everything else it seems.

FYI - the Maximilian has a special running now for the time period you'll be there. It requires a minimum 4-day stay. I just rebooked my reservation and saved 300 Euros total for the 5 nights. Wow!

I loved the Hotel Josef, a design hotel, right in the center of Prague . It was lovely and I paid 150 euros per night for a single with brakfast included.
