Prague hotels and restaurants
 

I would like to find a well-located hotel with non-smoking, two-bed rooms for about $200 per night. I am also wanting restaurant recommendations. What area of the city is best to stay in for three senior women?

I would try something in Mala Strana (Lesser Town) - it is the area under the Prague Castle. It is less noisy compared to Old Town and Wenceslas Square, and with beautiful surroundings, also with nice restaurants, especially if you are not on very tight budget.

I like the Jewish Ghetto area of Prague best. It is safe and you can take the Metro over to the Mala Strana side then take the tram up the hill to the castle.

Pariska Street is the luxury shopping street in Prague.

My favourite restaurant in Prague is David in Mala Strana near the US Embassy.

I would also recommend either Mala Strana or Josefov (the Jewish Quarter). Both are beautiful and historic. There are lots of nice restaurants in both areas. For traditional Czech food try Kokolvna and for a quick breakfast, lunch, or afternoon treat try The Bakeshop.

If you are relatively mobile, Bishop's House is good (http://www.bishopshouse.cz/bishopshouse/). Literally 60 meters from the western entrance to the Charles Bridge, short walk to central Mala Strana, 15 minutes to Old Town Square, 5 minutes from Kampa Island.

One of our best meals in Prague was at the Sarah Bernhardt Restaurant in the Hotel Paris at the edge of Old Town. It was an expensive dinner, but the food and service were excellent. We loved the bread (would have looked for the bakery they get it from if we had the time). Also tried a cake that the restaurant is famous for (the name escapes me). This was a special treat.
