Prague hotels
Any recommendations for a quiet hotel in a good central location? A travel agency recommended the Koruna but we don't see it in any guidebooks. Thanks,Marcia

There's a small hotel called U Pava just a block or two from the Charles Bridge, on a quiet side street - very friendly service, a secure parking lot (if you're driving), close to everything. If you check the normal websites for Prague accomodations, you ought to find it.
We stayed at the Palace Hotel. It is art deco, has a fantastic breakfast and an excellent restaurant. Clean. Arrived on Christmas Eve and the first thing we heard was a horn concerto on the street. It isn't too far from the opera house

We have been to Prague twice and have stayed at the Residence Mala Strana - a Minotel hotel. Very comfortable and quiet. We especially like it because the rooms are quite large and have a little kichenette and large table with 2 chairs as well as the usual sofa etc. The location is quite good. Its about a 8-10 minute swalk to the Charles brigdge. We usually took the tram (all of them go to the Charles bridge area)- 2 stops away. We usually book through Thomas Cook (they are agents for Minotel)and it comes to about USD 120 per night (includes a huge breakfast) but if you book directly through the hotel in Prague, the rate is higher.
There's a nice hotel called Maximillian on Hastalske namesti, a quiet street in the center of town. I don't know anything about the prices, but the location is great and it looks quite nice from the outside.

Try the CEDOK Agency (government owned and operated); excellent service through them last year. Enjoy the city...it is interesting!
