Prague hotels
 

Hello, I leave for Prague in less then three weeks and am seeking advice on favorite hotels. With the help of previous posts I have narrowed options down to Metamorphis, Salvator, and Husova Apt House. Any additional personal experience with any of these establishments? Location is important since the flood has left some of the transportation incapacitated. Budget approx $150 pe night or less. Would like atmosphere of charm and romance. I am so excited I can hardly stand it!! Any other advice appreciated. Thanks much.

We stayed at the Salvator Hotel in May 2002. It's a very nice 3 star hotel, only a two minute walk into old town square. It's on a side street off a main street that has a metro stop. We liked the location because it was so convenient and close to everything, yet quiet and economical. Price I think, was around $80-85/night. So, your budget is more than enough for this hotel. The hotel itself is quaint, charming, clean, and has a very good breakfast buffet. The staff was very competent and friendly. (I remember posting a reply a few months ago for someone else who wanted to know about this hotel, but I can't seem to get back to it through the searches, so you might have missed it too.) Although it is quaint and suited us for our stay in Prague, I'm not sure I would call it romantic. I guess it depends on your own definition. However, it is cute, interesting, charming, curious in layout, with a small glass elevator overlooking the interior courtyard. I highly recommend it, and we'd stay there again. Kathy

Couldn't agree more with the previous post. Great place and the La Boca Steak restaurant is one of the best. BUT, you may find the road a little changed since May 2002. I was in this street last week and it's been pretty torn up by the flooding. Although the hotel got off lightly, the presence of a police roadblock at either end of the street and the piles of flood damaged furniture indicates that all is not normal. I expect by the spring it will be back to it's old self.<BR><BR>Jason

There is a Best Western in close proximity to the train station that is very nice. I'm not sure of the name, you can check their web-site.

Any other Prague hotel advice???

Please excuse my rudeness. Thank you very much for the advice. I am in pre-travel panic mode trying to finish all the details. But I would appreciate any other advice!!

Dee,<BR>No comments on the hotels you have questions on.<BR><BR>We have stayed at the Rezidence Lungborg before and was very pleased with the hotel and location. It is basically right beside the tower of the charles bridge on the castle side. As you walk out the front, the charles bridge is 25 yards away from you. Hi Dee,<BR><BR>I stayed at the hotel metamorphis in January, and HIGHLY recommend it.<BR><BR>It's located in Old Town, great area to stay in...and right down a short cobblestone street from Old Town Square, the astrological clock, etc.<BR><BR>THe room was charming, and HUGE, with a view of Tyn Cathedral right out the window (which I requested...)<BR><BR>The staff was so helpful with recommendations, securing us opera tickets (both state and national)...I'd stay there again in a heartbeat!!<BR><BR>Have a wonderful trip....d.<BR><BR>ps. you were not rude in your initial inquiry..people need to be less sensitive :)

I just returned for Prague and stayed at the Cloister Inn. The location was great, just a few minutes walk from Old Town Square and the Charles Bridge. I found the staff to be friendly and informative and the accomodations were exceptionally clean and very nice. You can find them on the web.

I have gone to Prague maybe 8 times in the past 3 years. I personally have stayed at 3 different hotels and found the Hotel Julian very nice and i stay there now every trip.
