Prague Hilton Old Town

Any advice on this hotel would be greatly appreciated - i.e. location, service, cleanliness.

Is this a new hotel because the Hilton in Prague that I know is far from the Old Town?

Yes, after visiting the Hilton website I see there are now two Hiltons in Prague.

The "big" Hilton is on the outskirts of the city center.

The Hilton I know has been there many years and isn't far from Old Town, as a district. Old Town is not just that main square, it's an entire district that runs to the river (both ways) and to Revolucni on the right. So the older Hilton is very near Old Town.

So I don't know which one you are referring to, but the old one is right near the river and a big major road. It may be a perfectly comfortable hotel, I suspect it is, but that isn't a convenient location.

However, the new one used to be a Renaissance hotel, I believe, and that is a very convenient location for sure. Right near a metro stop and the Powder Gate, and shopping and trams/buses. Unfortunately, they just built some big new supermall near there and ruined the entire area as far as I'm concerned, but that's the way it goes.

The older Hilton is a very far walk to the "center" of Old Town, namely Old Town Square. I know because I walked it. You have to cross a highway to leave the hotel.

If you say the sky is blue, Christina will say it is green. Whatever. Miserable.

If the one you're referring to used to be a Renaissance (Per Christina's email), we stayed there five years ago. It was a typical Marriott-type hotel, very comfortable, and the location was excellent, easy walk to the Old Town Square, the Jewish Quarter, etc.

I stayed at the Hilton Prague Old Town (formerly Renaissance) in October and found it to be a great base for seeing all the sites of Prague. There is a Metro stop around the corner (Namesti Republiky) and Billa grocery store across the street. It is one block from the Municipal House & Powder Tower.

We were upgraded to an Executive Suite as Hilton HHonors Gold members and our suite was spacious and very clean. Included access to the Executive Lounge was nice for breakfast and evening cocktails. We would certainly stay here again and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it! Please let me know if you have any specific questions.

Thank you all for your responses.
joygerm - I read your notes about your trip and it sounded wonderful. Can you tell me who you used for your Terezin tour? Thanks!

Can someone recommend coffee shops for breakfast near Hilton Old Town?
Also, we'll be arriving there early in the evening and probably very tired... Is there a good place for dinner nearby? I looked at the website of the Hilton restaurant Maze and would prefer something more casual and less expensive.

Thank you!
