Prague Cheap Hotels

Please help, two couples going to Prague 9th May to 13th May. Looking for a cheap hotel with double rooms inc bathrooms. Don't mind if 10-15 mins in to centre. Want something low cost, with reasonable quality. Any advise would be most appreciated.

We went to Prague in Nov and stayed at the Hotel Denisa,Narodni obrany 33, Ph: 420-224-318-869; Fax: 420-224-319-032
email: [email protected]

Double room was 50 Euros.

This is a nice, quiet 3-star hotel about a 3 min. walk to the Dejvicka (pronounced DAVID-skah) metro stop. We were about 1 stop from the castle and about 3-4 from Wenceslas Square.

We were there twice, had room 205 and 406 . . . twin beds w/duvet, tv, phone, mini-refrigerator, bath w/shower (hair dryers were available at the desk). There was an elevator and breakfast was a very nice buffet.

We LOVED the neighborhood . . . grocery store on the corner, a great little pizza place nearby, a really nice restaurant also nearby (and the owner was sooooooo excited to see us and help us order), a "real" neighborhood.

I have very detailed notes about our trip and would be happy to send it to you, just email me ([email protected]).

Hope you have as good a time as we did!
Sandy (in Denton)

I have not yet been to Prague (going in July) but just spent a lot of time looking at inexpensive hotels on-line. Some of the sites I found useful were: hotelsprague.com, prague-hotel.cz, pragueholiday.cz, motylek.com, avetravel.com, and hotelsczech.com

I booked at the Avalon-Tara which is right in the center of the old town, but as I said, I have not stayed there yet. It's on a lot of sites and in several guide books including the rough guide to prague

Stayed at Hotel Julian.

About a mile west of Wenceslas Square, on residential side street; close to Vltava River. Shops, bars and restaurants 100 yds. Tram 25 yds;

Rooms were cheaper when we went a few years ago as they now seem to start at $95 USD. Breakfast included; clean place; very nice front desk with some english spoken.

Try Hotel Anna in the Vinohrady section (Prague 2). I stayed there a few summers ago. It is listed on all of the major Prague accomodations websites (travel.cz, marys.cz, athos.cz, etc..), although I booked it through Expedia. It is near trams, and the Namesti Miru metro stop (green line) is a short walk away.

Also, Hotel Novomestsky near Charles Square is reasonable. Stayed there a few summers ago, also. From there, you can walk to Wenceslas Square, and there are many trams & metro stops nearby, as well. It is listed on most of those websites I mentioned.

Have a good trip.

I just arrived back from Prague and stayed in Hotel Atlantic on Na Porici (1300czk per night CHEAP), which is close to Wenceslas Square and also Charles Square. Basically it is walking distance to everything you want to see. I booked this through hotelsprague.net who also organised a car to pick me up from the airport (much cheaper than a taxi) Hotel was fine, all the usual bits and very helpful staff, it really all depends on how cheap you want to go, but for the money, this place was an absolute steal.

We stayed at the Penzion Balbin on Balbinova near the Muzeum Metro & Wenceslas Square--5-10 minute walk to just about anywhere you want to go. The buffet breakfast is very good and it is on the top floors of an apartment building which is locked to the street. The rooms are clean and the staff nice. Rooms have bathroom/shower and skylights.

Linda,
How much are the rooms there?
Is breakfast included?
Thanks,
Mike

try the cloister inn

The breakfast is included and in '97 was voted best in Prague. I believe that the doubles are around $85-87 during high season. We were 2 single females and never had worries about safety. The Charles Bridge at night is a must. I have included one website that might give you an idea about the place. http://www.balbin.cz/balbin_en.htm

You will love Prague.

Oops, forgot. There is an elevator after the first short flight of stairs to get to the penzion.
