Prague - Charles Bridge

I saw where renovation of the Charles Bridge in Prague was to begin in 06. Can anyone say if that work has begun, and if so how much of an inconvenience is it to visitors at the present time.

We were in Prague in May and there was no construction going on along the bridge...don't know if this means it's already been completed...or had not yet started.

I am in Prague now - there has been no construction on the Charles Bridge during the two weeks that I have been here.

Thanks everyone for the first hand info.
Rick Steves 2007 Prague Book mentions the CB renovation starting in 2006. Must be inaccurate.

I think it was really supposed to start in 2006, but you know how those projects go - always delays.

They put scafolding on the top of the Tyn Church today - kind of ruins the photo of the Old Town Square. Also the Jan Hus Memorial in the Old Town Square has been covered since I arrived 3 weeks ago.

Looks like they are starting the Charles Bridge construction. Today they blocked off the right hand side of the bridge at the entrance just before the tower.

It is not so bad that it would ruin a picture of the bridge as most photos are taken past this point.

I had seen it written that the construction was to start in the fall of '07, after the tourist season. I was hoping to pin down the time since we will be there the beginning of September.
