Prague, Cesky Krumlov, Vienna & Budapest trip report

We did a 2 weeks trip to eastern europe over the christmas period 2 years ago. I had just updated my travel blog, and I believe it will be useful to those who are planning for something similar, as I couldn't find much informations while I was planning for the trip.

I noticed that in one picture you are standing outside the Karlskirche, with its wonderful interior by Fischer von Erlach.

The last two times I was in Vienna, there was scaffolding and even an elevator inside, as some kind of work was being done there. Is that still the case?

The first time I saw the Karlskirche was in 2001, and at that time I was able to see the interior without any scaffolding or other obstruction. It was stunning, and I'd like to see it that way again.

@fossil41, yes cesky krumlov is one of our favorite in our trip, we should have stayed 2 days instead of 1. The view from the castle overlooking the town was stunning with the snow capped houses, guess you need to make a return trip during the winter season?

@Pegontheroad, the picture we took outside Karlskirche was quite coincident; we initially wanted to go to rathausplatz, but was attracted by the congregation of a local crowd in a freezing afternoon, we decided to check it out, and it was a mini Christmas market! We joined in and had some mulled wine to keep warm. The exterior was stunning and I don't recall seeing any scaffolding at that moment, maybe the renovation has been completed?

Thanks for sharing your report and wonderful pictures! Now I know that I want to go to Europe at christmas time some year.

We had spent Christmas twice in Europe and it was amazing, we really enjoy visiting the Christmas market and everyone is in the festive mood. In Budapest and Vienna they hold special concert during this time, therefore there are lots of things to see and do.
