Prague, Budapest, Vienna - Questions?

Just back from a 2 week trip to Prague, Budapest, and Vienna. Stayed in an apartment in Prague (booked thru Mary's Accommodations), at the Charles Apt House in Budapest, and at Privatzimmer F Kaled in Vienna. Flew into Prague, traveled between Prague, Budapest, and Vienna via train, and flew out of Vienna. I'll be happy to answer any questions. You can post here or e-mail me.

Sheri: We will also be visiting all 3 locations this September. Just wondered if you went to any concerts in Vienna, and if so, what type of dress. Also any terrific restaurants? We will be in Budapest for 3 nights, anything special we should check out? Thanks for your help.

Sheri,
I will be visiting the same cities in August. How did you like the Privat Zimmer F. Kaled in Vienna? We have the other cities accommodations already reserved. Any good restaurants or other tips?
Thanks!

Dear Sheri,
I will be travelling to Vienna next month and would like any tips or info on the concerts there. I have been doing a lot of reading on Vienna and am confused about where to see a concert. I'd like a concert hall with good acoustics and prefer Mozart and Strauss.
I have tickets to the Schonnrunn at the Orangerie - have you been there?

Is it pretty easy to get around Vienna?
Do you recommend a city bus tour? I've been studying a little German before the trip, but i've read that English is spoken a little - is that true?
Did you see or hear the Vienna Boys Choir?
Sorry so many questions, but it's great to have the opportunity to get someone's opinion who has been there.
Thanks in advance. Any advice would be welcome.
Lynn

Dear Sheri S.

Well, l am a student tourism in Holland we are working on a project about Hungary. Our research statement for this case is:" is hungary western?" (and indirect is it western despite its communistic past and to some eastern europe image?)
What do you think? I'd like to know, thank you in advance,
Cindy

Lynn and others asking about Vienna concerts:

The Mozart/Strauss concerts in costume play at 4 different sites. You can get tickets the day of or day before - they are 3 price ranges. I think one of the nicest locations is the Musikverin Hall - the gold hall, where the New Years Eve concert is. It's in town on the ring raod.

During the summer, the Vienna Philharmonic is off, also, it is difficult to get these tickets

Dress at both concerts were skirt/nice slacks, etc. Guys wore jackets.

ATT Travel Agency in Vienna got advanced tickets for us for Philharminic, Vienna Boys Choir Mass at a small chapel in the Hapsburg complex. You can't see the choir, but the sound is wonderful.

Also, Sunday at 10:45 the Lippanzan Stallions do their session to music - looks like they are dancing ballet.

I believe the web site for ATT Travel is attrb.co.at/ or [email protected]
They do charge a service fee, but are very helpful.

Have read good things about Charles apartment House in Budapest. Am planning a trip (actually to the same cities!) next year. It would be nice to get first hand feedback about the place, also the convenience of the location. Wouldn't mind feedback on the other accomadations either! You can e-mail me privately if you prefer. Will be traveling with a six-year old child. Any tips?

Going to austria in august. Need info on the intercity trains. My son is using his wheelchair, how are the train stations as far as wheelchair access. Also, interested in any good but inexpensive restuarants you came across in Vienna. Thank you.

I, too, am interested in details about
the Charles. I expect to spend a week there in August. How's the walk down to the river, and back up? How's the bus service? Is the neighborhood interesting? Oh yeah, it's 100 F here now, and the Charles is without A/c - will
that be a problem? thnx,
Randy
