No, northie, Buda is the hilly side.

Looking at a map, the town is literally split by the river the way you see it and the way it's spelled, as Buda...Pest.

Yeah, down by the river (north to south), Buda on the right, Pest is on the left side.
Initially we had 3 cities, Obuda (ancient Buda), Buda and Pest.
After their unification in 1873 Budapest has emerged as a single unit.

The best views (North, East and South) are actually from the Gellert Hill (The Citadel).

Oops Andrew - I was thinking of the Fishernens Bastion and
thinking that side of the river was Pest but after your comment I realize it's Buda and Pest is further away .

I preferred the views from the Fisherman's Bastion to those of Gellert Hill -- JMO.

Hi,
You can't compare the two views. Especially when now almost half of the bastion is closed to renovation.
I am guiding people for more than 20 years and at least 90% of my former clients have agreed on the fact that you can't beat the Citadella (Gellért hegy) views. especially at dusk.
There are 3 and half Amazing view points and you have a 300 degrees panorama. From the Fisherman's Bastion it's hardly 180 degrees and the sites are very close, thus lacking that dramatic panorama experience. Also try to make good pictures from the Fisherman's during high season. The pushing crowds are almost ripping the camera off your hands.
Having that said, the view from the Fishermen's Bastion is also quite good, but still...

I have only visited Prague. (I'm visiting Budapest and Vienna later this month, will update then!)

I spent a weekend in Prague and I was able to see most of the stuff. The old town is charming, so that is a must! Charles bridge and Prague Castle are the major attractions too. They are heavily crowded so I recommend checking them out in the morning.

I wrote my first-hand experience in Prague here.Hope it helps :)

As promised, I finally visited Vienna and Budapest. Honestly, Vienna is my favorite of the 3! Lots of Museums, super clean, top of the class cafes, it's a total treat!

I wrote my experiences about Vienna here, hope this helps :)
