prague/budapest

Hello fellow Fodorites. My husband and I are planning a trip to Prague and Budapest. We plan on being in Prague on Christmas. Can anyone tell us the "not to be missed" sites and events for both locations?

Also, can anyone recommend day trips outside of both cities? We like to explore towns/villages.

Thank you for anticipated advice.

Debbie

I'm sorry if this is a bit blunt, but perhaps you should first read some guidebooks and get some idea of what you both would like to see. Guidebooks typicaly feature the 'must sees' for all destinations. Or you can check out the Fodors 'Destinations' tab above for each city.

Perhaps my request was poorly worded. I, of course, have bought guide books. I was seeking insight from those on this forum as to those sights and towns that they enjoyed the most.

We really enjoyed the hours we spent at Prague Castle. It's not just "a castle" sitting on a hilltop. It's a complex of palaces, churches, dwellings, etc.

By the way, it looks as though your inquiry has been posted twice. Also on Sept. 1
