Prague, Austria and Possibly Munich?!
Hello Everyone!
My hubby, best friend and I are planning a trip to Europe for next summer. We want to go to Salzburg, Vienna, Prague and Munich. May 25 Leave US May 26-30 Prague May 31 Train to Vienna May 31-June 2 Vienna June 3 Train to Salzburg June 3 & 4 Salzburg June 5 Leave for Munich June 5-7 Munich June 8 Leave for US We've never been to any of these countries but have traveled to Europe before. Our main interests are Austria and Prague. Munich was just an afterthought because that's where we have to catch our flight back home. Is that enough time in Vienna, Salzburg, and Munich? We can come back in the 9th and add a day in Salzburg if needed. Thanks so much for any help you can give, everyone's always so helpful here!! Amy |
I would suggest to add a day to Vienna. It is the city which would take most time to see and explore. Most od Salzburg can be visited in 1 1/2 days so if you leave for Munich early you have some more time in Munich - which has probably somewhat less on offer than Vienna but far more than Salzburg.

Hello Amy, I think that is a very nice trip. I would always add more time to the Salzburg area if you can---just train out to St. Gilgen and spend the day on the Wolfgangsee. Look good !

I liked Prague better than Vienna, but given your stops I'd take a day from Prague and add it to Vienna. There's a lot to see there. I'd also try to take night trains so as not to use up sightseeing time with the trains.

"use up" - for some people seeing the countryside, which can be in parts quite scenic, is a part of travel :-) |
I mean
... a part of travelling experience :-) |
Thanks everyone! I believe I will add a day in Salzburg so we can take a day trip to Hallstat or some place. After doing more research, I think 4 nts in Prague may work. Feel free to add any more tips :)
Thanks again, Amy |
good point above, about taking time for seeing the countryside, but I don't feel that I get to see much of it speeding by train windows.
I guess I might feel differently in the Alps. :) |
