Prague and the countryside

We are planning to be in the Czech Republic for 7 nights this July. As of now, we are looking at 3 nights in Prague, 2 nights in Cesky Krumlov, and two nights in either Trebon or Slavonice. We will rent a car when we leave Prague. Any thoughts on this itinerary? Thanks!

I can only respond to Cesky Krumlov. We rented a car in Vienna and drove to Cesky Krumlov and then on to Prague. The roads were good and we had no problems. In Cesky we parked the car at our hotel and walked everywhere as the town is very walkable. We did the same when we arrived in Prague.

Careful on the car rental.
Buying the insurance does not cover much and includes a 900 euro deductable.
You have to get the extra insurance to cover the deductable, which of course is pretty expensive.

You don't need a car and the trains are a lot of fun to ride.

Been to CR 3X in 10 years. No problem with car. Found Trebon unexceptional. Reocmmend only 1 night CK. Recommend you explore Telc, Tabor. Can't speak to Slavonice.

If you do go to Trebon be sure to take a peat bog bath!

For way more CZ info than you can stomach search under "turnip" for my excessively long trip report.

KGW,

My sister in law (to be) is Czech. (A Czechie?) Here's some info she sent to me to explore vis-a-vis our upcoming trip there. BTW, this is just info on North Moravia. There's tons more to see in South Moravia and Bohemia...I've found www.virtourist.com very helpful.

www.czecot.com/en/?id_region=15 - north moravia
www.vmp.cz/ - Valasske Mezirici (here Czech version has more pics)
www.czecot.com/en/?id_region=26 - Karlova Studanka
www.silherovice.cz/foto.htm - Silherocice

http://p104.ezboard.com/feuropetogof...icID=173.topic if you are interested in reading my verbose trip report. Hopefully it will be of some help to you. I personally like your itinerary - you could do a day trip from Cesky Krumlov as that little town can be seen in one early morning or evening (after the daytrippers have left it is pure magic). We found Slavonice to be a nice little place.
