prague airport to city?
We have booked a flight to Prague flying from Gatwick, London by Easy Jet mid Oct. What choices do we have of transport to get into the old town where we will be staying. We'd rather not spend a lot of money on a taxi if we can avoid it. We'll arrive at about 6:30pm. I'd really appreciate any help/advise you have. Thanks in advance

If you're looking for public transport then you can get the 119 bus from just outside the airport to Dejvicka metro station. This is one end of the green line if you look at a metro map. You'll know when to get off the bus because Dejvicka is a major stop on the bus route.
From there you can get the metro anywhere in town.
The cost is 12Kc although they can add another 6Kc for luggage which still makes it a very cheap ride.
Buy your ticket in the airport and ensure you put it in the machine as you board the 119 bus to validate the ticket.

Prague is a relatively cheap city and the airport isn't very far out. I took a taxi (really a private airport car, they are at the curb) and it didn't cost that much -- maybe the equivalent 12-15 euro.
I would not recommend public transportation by bus/metro myself with luggage, and because you have to transfer (and who knows how far a walk to your hotel). You can get a group airport shuttle van right at the curb without reserving ahead and it's only around 10 euro, as I recall, maybe less.

Thank you both for your fast responses. I hadn't looked where the airport was, but know Easy Jet often lands at places far out of the city. Do you know if those group shuttle vans run on a regular basis?

yes, the group airport vans do run regularly all day, although I've never arrived in the evening so don't know about that. 6:30 pm isn't that late, so I wouldn't worry about that. I think they do have to wait to fill up, which isn't usually a problem. I think I waited about 10-15 minutes.
It is easy to find them and other options, just walk out the airport door to the area for transportation and they are parked on the right side. If they've changed that, they will be easy to find as it's not that big an area and the vans are marked (and I think there are signs for the area).
I am referring to the main Prague airport, of course. I thought they only had one international airport, Ruzyne.
