Prague: A Few Notes From My Trip

I haven't had time to write a trip report, but I recently went to Prague and had a great time.

The Betlem Club Hotel was a perfect location. We stayed in the attic room and it was very small, but we were only there to sleep so that was okay. Their breakfast was pretty good. We used their car service to pick us up from the airport. That was so nice to have a ride waiting for us. We used a local cab service to drive us to the train station when we left. We stopped a cabby on the street the night before and checked the rates, then we compared them to what the hotel charged and they were cheaper. We had heard that the cab drivers might rip you off, but we didn't have a problem.

We used Prague Experience for an all-day castle tour and were disappointed in it. The tour bus drove to Konopiste Castle, then back to Prague, then drove to Karlstein Castle and then back to Prague. We spent most of the day driving in and out of Prague. The Konopiste Castle tour was very nice, but I was disappointed in the Karlstein Castle tour.

My favorite thing in Prague was the delightful architecture. I love that the buildings are not all made of gray concrete. They are so beautiful. I really enjoyed the Jewish Quarter and the Terror Museum; it was sad, but very interesting and memorable. The St. Jilji Church was an unexpected surprise. We didn't have it on our list and noticed it our last morning.

If I could change anything it would be to stay a day or two longer. Our flight got delayed and we lost an entire day since it was our first destination.

Oops, the Terror Museum was in Budapest. Too many sights in such a short time!

Hey Modglila,

How hot was that attic room in the Betlem Club? Usually those top rooms are deadly in the summer (especially if no A/C). Just curious...

It was warm in the attic room, but I didn't have any trouble sleeping. I can't remember the exact outside temperature while we were there, but I believe it was right around 80 degrees Fahrenheit. There was only a tiny window and not much air came in through it. If I recall correctly, we left that window closed during the day in case of rain. It might have been better if we had left it open. It was stuffy, but we were going for economy and location. The room couldn't have been any smaller and still been doable. I wouldn't have wanted to stay a long time in the attic room, but we were only there three nights.
