I highly recommend taking an iron in your suitcase. In the event someone attempts to mug you, just whack them with your suitcase. OOO, OOOO, keep it hot and just scald their little hands as they reach into your back pocket.

No, really, I hate wrinkles but I just can't stand the extra weight of an iron in my suitcase.

Don't you feel guilty wearing all that polyester that doesn't biodegrade? After you finish with it, it goes to the dump where is languishes for years and years and years. Like forever. Shouldn't you choose clothes of natural fiber and forget about the natural wrinkles. Think of the legacy of trash you are leaving your grandchildren and their grandchildren.

I bring the travel iron because I enjoy looking nice. Some of my clothes pack better than others. I like wearing linen or washable silk. Remember what your Mom always said...
When you look good, you feel good..

So after you carefully iron all these things...and you sit down in a cafe ,trattoria, or bistro...do you all sudddenly jump up and run back to the hotel to iron again??

I'm with Janis..I had one, never used it except maybe twice and what a bother..now I buy things that I can steam out in the shower or that don't wrinkle in the first place, silk sweaters, woolen slacks ., linen that is supposed to be wrinkled, broomsticks skirts, knits, silks.

I hate to iron hen I'm at home!

And by the way I look GOOD when I travel..no shorts, no jeans, no tee shirts with slogans,no back pack.

Can we please stop arguing about this and start arguing about something with a clear answer, like whether smooth peanut butter is better than chunky?

moonbeam Sep 23rd, 2002 05:14 PM

In clothing and peanut butter , I prefer chunky!

Rae, you've been scammed. The reason the hotels did not want to loan you an iron is because you were gullible enough to believe the stories they told you. The hotels make a bundle charging you for the "pressing services".

Next time, if you are so inclined not to bring an iron, call the Housekeeping Department and ask to borrow and iron and ironing board. Don't bother calling the front desk, because you will just be told the same gibberish that you shared with us. By the way, if you can afford to stay at the St. Regis Grand in Rome, then you can afford to have your clothes pressed.

Hello! Just returned from Italy and all four of the hotels we stayed at provided irons for our use when we needed them (4* hotels) at no charge. Sorry, but some do have them. I agree, take a travel iron if you choose to wear clothes that need ironing. We were at 2 weddings and needed them for that but otherwise, unless I was there on business, I would pack clothes that did not need ironing. Just my two sense.

You got that right. Two cents?

Greetings, I have been bringing wrinkle free with me for about 12 or more years. It is great--works like a charm--I use it in conjunction with the hang in the bathroom while taking a shower plan--also, don't bring linen or items which have a tendency to wrinkle badly at home. Try it--I think you'll be quite pleased.

Take care,
Robyn France

Extra crunchy peanut butter, of course!!

Lucy Sep 24th, 2002 06:06 PM

Another vote for crunchy PB! I hate ironing - i wish I could get that Wrinkle Free stuff here in asutralia - it would be a god send!!

I love Faultless Wrinkle Free. I have found a website called www.agelong.com where you can buy it because it is hard to find in stores.
I used to bring a travel iron but a can of this is lightweight and works great.
