POZNAN or WROCLAW ?
 

Hello All,

My family will visit to Poland again the coming year. We plan to visit Poznan and Wroclaw. However, I have some problems about these 2 cities. Can you give me some suggestions?

1. Which city is worth to visit first?

2. How long will you stay in each city?

3. Besides these 2 cities, any good places around them are worth to visit ?

First or second is dependent on arrival point or further travels.
Personally I find Wroclaw a more interesting city, not only in the centry, but also the somewhat further away Panorama and Centennial Hall (Jahrhunderthalle). The attractions of Poznan are more or less concentrated around the Rynek.
Both have possibilities for a day trip. From Wroclaw it's the Ksiaz castle, from Poznan the Rogalin palace, which has recently been restored (it was closed for the works when I visited last year, with a summer storm on the way back).

I would also visit them in order of which works best based on your itinerary. Or do you mean which is the best place to visit if you only have to choose one?

I've only been to Wroclaw, it was very nice. I'd spend at least 2 days there, if you can.

Poznan centre is pretty small I'd major on Wroclaw. The days of the male dancing partners (and more) have now disappeared to the back streets.

Just two days? Better more! I had four weeks in Wroclaw in 2014 and never ran out of things to do, and have since returned twice. I cannot compare with Poznan because I have not (yet) been, but you cannot go wrong with Wroclaw. Especially in 2016 when they are cultural capital of Europe, so there will be even more going on!

In case you are interested in classical music, check what's on at the Forum Muzyki, the huge brand-new concert hall with its fantastic acoustics.

I didn't get to Poznan, either (regretfully), but a few years ago I enjoyed two brief nights in Wroclaw (even though for one day it rained heavily). Although i'm not a "museum person," I thought the Racławice Panorama - a 360 degree painting depicting a famous Polish military victory over Russia a few centuries ago - was stunning and well worth seeing. It's basically in its own little museum.

Wroclaw is one of those pleasant cities I'd love to visit again someday. It has some nice walking areas near the center.
