Potential great place to dine in Rome
Has anyone eaten at this place in Rome? It sounds like a potential great experience amid ruins. If anyone has eaten here, how as the food and what type of food did they serve?

If you dig around the archives, you can find menus. The food is seasonal and it appears to be an eclectic mix of regional specialties. I noticed on this menu there is a special cured meat from the area near Lucca -- which is quite far from Roma. Risotto is not a Roman dish, but more associated with Lombardia (Milano, etc).
If you would like sample Roman Jewish cuising amid ruins, you can go to Da Gigetto adjacent to the Porta d'Ottavia. On the other hand, you can also get pizza bianca to go for a few euro at Lo Zozzone and walk 100 feet and eat in the Piazza Navona. Not a ruin, exactly, but it's old. |

I dined there. It's unusually hard to find a really bad restaurant in Rome where gastronomic standards are terrific - but THIS is the place. I've never had a worse meal in Rome. I admit it was many, many years ago, but this is a traditional trattoria, so I wouldn't expect big changes over time. And above all, I'll certainly never, never, never give them a second try. Brrrrr.

Thanks Franco. The theater ruins sounded so intriguing to me, but not nearly enough so to have a junk meal. I'll have to keep looking.
