posting problem

Is it just me,or have you ever posted a nice, lenthy, well thought-out response to a question, only to have it not appear on the thread?

rex Jun 22nd, 2005 04:43 AM

You may be able to retrieve it (your long response) by using the "back" icon (enough times); if you're lucky, it will take you back to the screen where you were composing.

This used to be a veryfrequent complaint, as the 500 word limit was undocumented by Fodors. But clearly the limit (if it exists at all) is much higher now.

I think that most "veterans" do one of two things when planning to make a lengthy post... either compose separately (in a word processing program, for example) and cut and paste in your reply... or compose here - - but just before you click "post" (or sooner, if you want to cover your tail) - - copy/paste your incomplete posting - - and put a "safe" copy of it somewhere else (again, like... in a word processing program, or in an e-mail to yourself).

Best wishes,

Rex

No. Could be you.

Which thread swallowed your reply? ((R))

It happens somewhat regularly, but with no rhyme or reason, although it does seem to happen as others are posting at the same time.I was just trying earlier to respond to the posting about VAT refunds, wrote my post twice,and...nothing

I've had it happen to me on occassion. When it does, I'll hit the "back" button and then copy my reply and try again.

yes,sometimes I'll hit the back button and try again.Sometimes that works,sometimes not.I've e-mailed the editors,(or web people,whatever they're called!) but never got a response.
