Post trip blues

Amazing country this Switzerland you all chat about! We just spent 9 glorious days there and can't say enough of it's beauty and majesty! Wow! Best country yet that I've travelled. The food is great, the people friendly in helping out their tourists, the scenery is incomparable to any other place!
Want to say thanks to all you Fodorites that helped in our planning! It was a fabulous time!
Maria

4 days in Weggis and 4 days in the Berner Oberland! Wow is all I can say! The Junfrauoch is amazing and the trains ride breathtaking. It was perfect weater for most of our days. Even in the rain it's incredible. We took the Golden Pass from Interlaken to Montreux- I highly recommend this- it was more than beautiful! Worth the extra reservation fee to get the first car for this ride.

I was interested to see that you stayed in Weggis. We are leaving next week and will be staying there also before going to the Berner-Oberland area. I had not seen too many posters mention this area. Did you enjoy the lake?

Hi. Like s' I am in dreadful need of a Swiss fix. I've been so down lately w/o travel plans that I have not even rattled on and one at my favorite Swiss threads! And besides, the Burt Wolf series on Swiss travel has ended on my PBS. Details, Maria, details.

p.s. Kathy, Lucerne's lake might be the most beautiful of all. You picked a good one.

Kathy,
Valderstrasse (Lake Lucerne) was magnificant! I think the best views were from Weggis and the town next to it, Vitznau- recommend visiting there as well while you're in Weggis. Where are you staying? We stayed at the Gotthard and loved it!

Came upon this thread and thought it might be appropriate for the end of summer. Amazingly, I was able to sneak away and spend five nights at the Swiss end of Lago Maggiore. Therefore, I'm not feeling as sorry for myself as I did when I posted to this thread earlier. Blues? No way.

I've copied a picture of the view from my little Hotel Panorama balcony to use as the wallpaper for my computer screen, I've cooked a couple of suppers which attempt to reproduce (ha) the meals I enjoyed there, and as you well know I've continued to visit the Swiss threads at this wonderful forum. I intend to use assorted postcards as bookmarks when I begin teaching again in a few weeks. No blues, just very grateful lovely memories. I wish the same for you all. Affectionately, J.
