Possible itinerary for 3 weeks in Sweden

My husband and I are planning a trip to Sweden in June. My husband loves to take photos. We love scenery, history and culture. I have been reading some guidebooks and have come up with the following possible itinerary and I would appreciate any feedback you could give me on this.

Fly NY to Stockholm and stay about 4-5 days

Rent a car and, on the way to Uppsala, see Maraiefred and Drottningholm. Stay in Uppsala for 2 nights visiting Sigturna from there.

Drive to the Darlarna region and stay for 4 nights exploring the region

Drive to Ostersund and stay 4 nights exploring the region

Drive the Vildmarksvagen and stay in Vilhelmina one night

Drive to Arvidspaur and stay 2 nights

Drive to the High Coast staying in Harnosand for 3 nights

Drive to Gavle staying one night

Fly home the next day.

Thanks so much for any input.

Maybe visit Visby on the island of Gotland, visit the Stockholm archipelago (June is a great time to visit), Vadstena etc but you would have to cut down some of the itinerary for that. Have you checked the distances, it's a lot of driving. Many Swedes/Dutch/Germans etc rent an RV and stay in various campsites/cabins/summer houses during the summer, it's a great way to be close to nature and if you are there during Midsummer, there are usually celebrations that you can observe. Alot of Sweden is the same scenery, lots of forests, lots of red wooden houses, long roads.

Thank you so much for this information. I will rethink our plans and maybe stay in the southern part of Sweden rather than making the long trek up to the north.

Thank you menachem. I remember your posts being very helpful when I was planning our trip to the Netherlands.
