Possible British Airways strike

BA's FAs and other TGWU members have voted overwhelmingly to authorize strike action that would begin no later than four weeks from now. Lots of possible disruptions to late winter/early spring itineraries.

Oh no! I just booked them for flights from Gatwick to Italy six weeks from now. Thanks for the post, now I can stay on top of it.

Thought I'd top this for the evening crowd...

Current speculation among some BA flyers (based on inside? information) is that the first strike day might be Jan 22 or Feb 5, lasting 3 days, then rolling strike days (2 or 3 at a time?) over the next month or so. I.e., provoking chaos with schedules. Won't LHR be extra fun then?

Can't be immediate, as I thought you need 7days from ballot results to the actual strike.
My gut feeling is industrial action starting the weekend of 10-11 Feb; a nice way to coincide with the beginning of half-term hol week.
T&G ballot was on working condition. Separately baggage handlers rejected the revised pension proposal, will take a strike ballot as well.

From BA today -

...The Transport and General workers Union (T&G) notified British Airways today of its intention to call out cabin crew on strike on January 29, 30 and 31; February 5, 6 and 7; and February 12, 13 and 14.

Presumably additional dates would follow...

Meant to add, typically in these cases there is significant schedule disruption for two or three days before and after such actions as planes are positioned to be available for service as soon as the disruption occurs. Other planes may be cycled for maintenance or other non-revenue activities to take account of non-flying days.
