Positano or Ravello
 
My husband and I are travelling to Italy July 2007. In addition to Capri and Sorrento we are trying to choose between staying in Positano or Ravello. Any thoughts from someone who has visited both?

Your advice is much appreciated.

We have been to both, and it depends on what you prefer, quaint, quiet, romantic surroundings (Ravello) or touristy, busy, but breathtaking views (Positano). Consider staying in Amalifi, which is a little bit of both.

Visited both last June and personally, nothing like Positano. It is breathtaking, and though more touristy than Ravello, the city is just unbelievable.

Pick 2 locations on that coast. My choices would be Positano and Capri. Ravello is too remote for a base, but do not miss it.

Based on your advice, we will stay in Positano and take a day trip to Ravello to view Villa Cimbrone and Villa Rufolo.

We stayed in Positana and took the water taxi to Amalfi and then a bus to Ravello. It was a wonderful day. I too would stay in Pos. over Ravello. have a wonderful trip.
